Did you know?
We don’t have a Disney Princess from India. It all happened one day when my 4 year old was reading a Disney Princesses Book and asked a simple question “Mom, Why is there no Disney Princess from India?”
I raised a petition through change.org to Disney and be a voice for my daughter. I didn’t want to stop there so I began the Disney Princess for India Campaign in “The Mommy Series”.
Our India
✨ India is a land of woman with beauty, brains and valor from olden days till now.
✨ A nation that worships its legendary warrior women from history .
✨ India is the nation which has won the most number of coveted Miss World Titles, 6 times thus far.
✨ India is the second most populated nation with over a billion people in the World.
✨It’s the nation with largest democracy in the World.
✨India is a nation of vast number religions, color, languages, culture, heritage, beliefs and stays united as one nation amidst its vast diversity.
Yet the shocking question still remains,
Why has Disney not yet introduced an Indian Princess till date to be a part of the existing Princess Line Up which includes princess of varying races but for one from India, the land that embraces diversity to its zenith. Indian woman build a family, a nation, organizations, environment and a peaceful society.
Disney Princess for India Campaign
To commemorate the unique and one of a kind initiative for the first time in India, we at The Mommy Series conducted a “Princess Of Hearts” contest for moms and children to find out the Indian Princess they wish to see as a part of Indian Disney Princess Line Up . The contest had three rounds beginning with sharing a real or imaginary fairytale story about who they envision to be the Indian Princess, then a Princess Speech or with empowering words or makeover and last but not the least a round to showcase the Princess Talent.
Panel of Judges
It was important to be unbiased, feel truly inclusive and diverse in the judges panel, hence we have chosen eminent woman judges from all walks of lives, race and age to determine who the role model Indian Princess we are looking for.
Rani Shobhal Singh from the Royal clan of Ajaigarh and a social activist, founder of Surya Uday NGO which supports woman from tribal society.
Elavenil Valarivan Jr World Cup shooting champion of India. Interestingly there was a mom who did write a story about “Elavenil” as a part of the contest.
Maharani Radhika Raje who is from the Royal clan of Vadodara. She is a heritage conservationist, textile revivalist and Author.
Meher Nisha a warrior mother because in The Mommy Series we say “Every Mother is a Celebrity” so we chose to have a mother who has gone through varying hard times and yet puts a smile on her face to keep rearing come what may.
Anita Andrews-Hutchinson director of multiple schools in Chicago, USA from an African American community who embraced diversity in her school with children from all parts of the World.
Jeevitha G a Mompreneur of a clothing line up

Embrace inclusion and diversity
The initiative hopes to instill values of inclusivity and empathy among kids from a young age and empower them. It’s important to sow the seeds earlier and teach kids young and not wait until we reach a workplace to discuss on diversity and inclusion.
I wish for Indian children or those with Indian roots to learn about the sacrifices and strengths of Indian women over the ages. We would also wish for other ethnicity children to learn and embrace our culture so we are more accepted, recognised and not discriminated by colour or economic status.
